EVANSTON

Refusing to be blighted by the rather formidable shadow of Chicago, the city of Evanston is a thriving, culturally active community set on Lake Michigan, with unique business districts, beautiful homes on tree-lined streets, and home to Northwestern University, as well as innumerable cultural events and organizations that make this city an enjoyable alternative to the other, aforementioned one…on a slightly smaller, more accessible scale.

Residential

Though the city was founded as a result of the establishment of Northwestern University, the residential make-up of Evanston is rich with
historical residences in a variety of architectural
styles, including Victorians, Colonials, Tudors,
Prairies, and contemporary styles.

Commercial

While Northwestern University provides for the majority of Evanston’s employment, the city’s commerce is thriving with every possible form of business and business opportunities. Like so many successful, mid-sized cities, Evanston is an eclectic mix of large corporations, recognizable chains and franchises, and family owned stores that reflect small- town charm in the heart of an urban setting.
