GLENVIEW

Glenview is, quite simply, a view to charmed living. With lovely homes nestled on tree-lined streets, exceptional schools, and a wealth of thriving businesses, it is no wonder so many people choose to call this enchanting community home. In addition to its amiable residents, beautiful parks, popular recreational facilities, and convenient twenty-two mile commute to the Loop, Glenview is also the home of “the Grove”, a one hundred and twenty-three acre preserve of diverse prairie land established by visionary horticulturalist, Dr. John Kennicott, in 1836. The Grove is now not only a historical landmark, but also a wonderful source of educational and environmental enjoyment…and just one more reason why Glenview residents deem their community a perfect place to live.

Residential

Glenview homes vary as much in size and style as they do in price with prices for single family homes ranging from $185,000 to 2,250,000 and an average sales price of $700,645 as of July, 2006- a dramatic increase of over 100% from the year before, according to the Hedrick-Wagner Appraisal Group.

Commercial

In addition to the diversity of its homes, Glenview is also home to a great number of businesses that are headquartered there, including Kraft Foods, Zenith Electronics, and Scott, Foresman & Co. Additionally, Glenview’s commerce provides for any and all of life’s necessities, as well as a nice variety of terrific restaurants and shopping venues. Finally, “The Glen”, located at the site of the former Glenview Naval Air Station, is a 1,121 acre, multi-use site that features new homes, offices, and retail space. Public amenities include Lake Glenview, Park Center, Gallery Park, Air Station Prairie, two golf courses, and a Metra station.

The Schools

A town by any other name...

Large businesses and high property values both contribute to the well-funded and consistently recognized school districts serving the students of Glenview. Among these districts, the majority of residents are served by Glenview School District 34, while others attend Avoca School District 37, Wilmette District 39, Northbrook/Glenview School District 30, West Northfield School District 31, and East Maine School District 63. Most high school students attend Glenbrook High School, with a small portion of students who live south of Central Road attending Maine East High School.

The Parks

In addition to the aforementioned “Grove”, arguably Glenview’s most lauded attraction, the Glenview parks district also operates two beautiful parks, numerous playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, and baseball fields. Also, “The Glen” maintains two exceptional golf courses that attract Glenview residents and visitors alike.
