KILDEER
The village of Kildeer, located thirty-eight miles north of the Loop
in the southwest corner of Lake County, is a unique community boasting
custom homes nestled in spacious, natural settings where hills, trees,
and lakes abound. This quaint village also offers great shopping and restaurants,
as well as easy travel to Chicago and surrounding areas thanks to a conveniently
located Metra station.
Residential
In the late 1950s, local residents fought the onset of aggressive development
by incorporating as the village of Kildeer. To preserve their environment,
a one-acre minimum on residential lots was established by the village
government, along with narrow country-style roads, and severely restricted
commercial development. This commitment to maintaining the serenity and
naturalism of their community endures, as evident by the beautiful surroundings
of the village and the content residents who reside there.
Commercial
Despite its commitment to keeping Kildeer primarily residential, the
village is not without the convenient amenities allowing for easy shopping
and popular dining. Commerce includes such venues as the Shops at Kildeer
and Quentin Collection, and tasty eateries that include Gianni’s
Café and Potbelly’s. |
