KILDEER

The village of Kildeer, located thirty-eight miles north of the Loop in the southwest corner of Lake County, is a unique community boasting custom homes nestled in spacious, natural settings where hills, trees, and lakes abound. This quaint village also offers great shopping and restaurants, as well as easy travel to Chicago and surrounding areas thanks to a conveniently located Metra station.

Residential

In the late 1950s, local residents fought the onset of aggressive development by incorporating as the village of Kildeer. To preserve their environment, a one-acre minimum on residential lots was established by the village government, along with narrow country-style roads, and severely restricted commercial development. This commitment to maintaining the serenity and naturalism of their community endures, as evident by the beautiful surroundings of the village and the content residents who reside there.

Commercial

Despite its commitment to keeping Kildeer primarily residential, the village is not without the convenient amenities allowing for easy shopping and popular dining. Commerce includes such venues as the Shops at Kildeer and Quentin Collection, and tasty eateries that include Gianni’s Café and Potbelly’s.

The Schools

Another reason why so many residents are drawn to this welcoming community is the success of its recognized schools. Most notably, Stevenson High School is the only school in Illinois to receive four Blue Ribbon Awards by the U.S. Department of Education and Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report have consistently ranked Stevenson among the top 100 high schools in America. Other school districts servicing Kildeer are Buffalo Grove District 96, Lake Zurich District 95, and Lake Zurich High School. Parochial grammar schools include St. Francis De Sales Catholic School in Lake Zurich and St. Matthew Lutheran School in Hawthorn Woods.

The Parks

“With surrounding Lake County in a state of vast development, it was Kildeer’s intent to provide its residents with a refuge where people could join together with nature’s tranquility.” The result: five acres of preserved wetlands providing a sanctuary for a great variety of flora and fauna.
